Performer, composer, and educator Jeremy Barnett is one of the most innovative and versatile percussionists to come out of Australia. His musical world crosses all genres from classical to pop, contemporary music to cabaret and musical theatre, electro-acoustic solo projects to modern dance, and everything in between. He has performed across the world with ensembles and companies including Shakespeare’s Globe, Sydney Symphony, Synergy Percussion, Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra, Boston Percussion Group, Sydney Dance Company, Shaun Parker and Company, and OzOpera. Jeremy was a founding member of the ‘post-rock’ band PROP, releasing their acclaimed album “Small Craft Rough Sea” in 2001, and has performed and recorded with groups including CODA, Petulant Frenzy, and the Daryl Pratt Sextet. An in demand session musician, he can be heard on film soundtracks including “The Black Balloon”, “Happy Feet”, and “Australia”.

A passionate educator, Jeremy has presented clinics, lectures, and masterclasses at PASIC, the Sixth International Conference on Music and Minimalism, Zeltsman Marimba Festival, New England Conservatory of Music, Sydney Conservatorium, and University College (Cork). Jeremy’s written articles have appeared in Percussive Notes, SONUS, and Music Forum (Australia), and several of his compositions are published by Rhythmscape Publishing Australia. He is a highly sought after teacher of drum kit and percussion, and is currently a Visiting Music Teacher at numerous leading schools in the UK. Jeremy was a student of Nancy Zeltsman, receiving his Masters in Marimba Performance from the Boston Conservatory. He also holds a DMA in Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory.

2022 saw the release of Jeremy’s first solo album “The Longest Year”, a selection of original electronic and acoustic pieces that chronicle our personal and universal experiences.
